Shot man remanded

Michael Aliimatafitafi, the 36 year-old Birkdale man shot by Police on April 20, was remanded in custody without plea today after a hospital bedside North Shore District Court appearance where he was charged with attempted murder and assault with a weapon.

Aliimatafitafi will remain in Auckland Hospital for at least the next few days but will transfer to the infirmary at Mt Eden Prison once he?€?s discharged. His next Court appearance is scheduled for May 14. A psychiatric assessment has been ordered.
