Central District Police have today launched their Facebook page to further engage the District's communities in preventing crime and identifying and locating offenders.

Central District Commander Superintendent Sue Schwalger says: "A significant number of people are on social media and it's another effective way we can connect with our communities."

"There are many examples where Facebook is being used successfully by police in other districts and areas to get the community more involved in helping us fight crime."

The page will include a wide range of information including crime prevention advice, wanted offenders, and appeals for information about crimes.

"It's not just about identifying criminals, but also sharing the stories about the work we do with the many diverse communities we serve.

"People?can stay in touch with what is?happening?in a police space?across our District,?and?the page is a great?platform?to share a wide?range of information?including providing?crime prevention advice?and a local flavour of better work stories," says Superintendent Schwalger.

Please note the page is not intended for reporting crime — People should still call 111 to report crime, emergencies, and suspicious activity.?
