Shortly before midday, Police responded to calls for help from two people performing CPR on a woman on rocks out in Owhiro Bay.

The woman's dive partner, members of the public and Police, assisted to bring her in to shore and continued CPR. ?

Despite the best efforts of all those involved, including Wellington Free Ambulance paramedics, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene a short time ago.
