Major road diversions are in place on State Highway One north of Auckland following a serious crash near Puhoi this afternoon.

At this stage, the information from the scene is that two motorcycles collided with a car around 1.54pm on SH1 near the intersection of Schollum Access Rd.

Traffic will be diverted at the Silverdale off-ramp to take SH17, turning onto Kahikatea Flat Rd before turning north at Kaukapakapa. Motorists can then exit onto Woodcocks Rd, then into Warkworth where they can return to SH1.

Police and Ambulance are in attendance. At this stage, information is that two people are seriously injured (one is status one, the other status two).

The Waitemata Police's Serious Crash Unit is investigating.?
