This morning at about 4:00am Police were called to a crash at the corner of Franklyne Road and Alexander Cresent in Otara.? The 16 year old driver of a stolen Subaru was killed, while the two other occupants of the car have been transported to Middlemore Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The vehicle failed to negotiate a corner and crashed into a house on the corner at speed.? It is not known at this stage if alcohol was a factor in the crash.? Police were not in pursuit of the vehicle at the time.

The occupants of the house were not home at the time of the crash.
?
Emergency services are still on the scene negotiating the extraction of the vehicle from the house which is extensively damaged.

The name of the deceased will not be released until his next of kin have been notified.
