Please attribute to Detective Senior Sergeant Malcolm Inglis, Queenstown Police:
?
Today Otago Lakes Central police executed two search warrants in the Wanaka area.?
?
At one address, Police located a sophisticated cannabis growing room with 34 cannabis plants.
?
These plants were all at different levels of maturity, with some ready to be sold.
?
As a result of that search warrant, a 58-year-old Wanaka man will be facing cultivation of cannabis charges and manufacturing a class B drug (cannabis oil).
?
At the second address police located another indoor cannabis ‘grow’ operation with eight mature cannabis plants.
?
Also located at the address near the cannabis grow was a Winchester shotgun.
?
As a result of this search warrant a 46-year-old Wanaka man is facing charges of cultivation of cannabis, cannabis for supply, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
?
The Otago Lakes Central police will continue to target drug supplies in the area in an attempt to prevent harm in the community.
?
It is unknown where these drugs were destined for, but these warrants executed today will make a dent on the ongoing drug supply in the area.?
?
Central Otago and Lakes District Police are focused on reducing drug-related harm in our rural townships and communities, and it’s pleasing to be able to put people who deal drugs before the courts and hold them to account.
