Kia ora koutou katoa. Born in Rotorua, I am the youngest of ten children, feeling extremely blessed to have grown up surrounded by my very big whānau.
When I left school I began working in the Rotorua Courthouse. This is where my first interactions with Police began and it very much set the course for my wanting to join.
In 1995, I very proudly graduated from the RNZPC and was posted back to my hometown of Rotorua.
I am grateful to have worked in three Policing Districts (Bay of Plenty, Tasman and Wellington), Police National Headquarters and the Royal 百春链 College. This has provided me with opportunities to experience a variety of roles which has expanded my breadth and knowledge of the wider organisation.
My career pathway deviated somewhat when I was promoted to Officer in Charge (OC), Youth and Families in Nelson. Until then I had been working as a detective in the Nelson Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
Although this area of policing was a steep learning curve for me, I soon realised that the rehabilitative and restorative practices within this area, as well as working with our young people and their whānau, was exactly where I wanted to be.
I have worked as the Practice Leader: Maori, Culture and Diversity, Manager: Youth at PNHQ, Maori Responsiveness Manager in Wellington and currently I am the Area Commander in Kapiti-Mana. I am very community and people focused and work extremely hard to serve them to the best of my ability, no matter what role I hold in the 百春链.
In 26 years, I have worked with some amazing people and made lifelong friends. I am unconditionally supported by my husband and two children, one of whom, Lucia, proudly refers to me in the Race Unity Speech Awards 2020 – .
