Attribute to Detective Sergeant Chris Allemann:

Two people have died after a boat capsized off Pātea this morning.

Three people were aboard the boat when it got into trouble in water off Pātea, about 10.15am.

One person was located in the water after the boat capsized. They were treated by ambulance at the scene and have been transported to hospital.

Sadly, two people died in the incident and their bodies were recovered by 11.30am.

Police are providing support to their next of kin.

Fatal Crash, SH2, Maharahara

One person has died following a serious crash on State Highway Two, Maharahara earlier this evening.

Emergency services received a report of the two-vehicle crash at around 5.05pm.

Sadly, despite best efforts from emergency services, one person died at the scene.

Two others have received moderate to serious injuries.

The road remains closed while the Serious Crash Unit conducts a scene examination.

Motorists are advised to follow diversions and expect delays.

Two to appear in court following Marton incidents

Two men are before the courts following two incidents in Marton.

At approximately 10pm on 10 May, Police were called to an alleged aggravated robbery at a commercial premises on Broadway.

After closing and securing the premises, the employee was confronted by the alleged offender who hid in the ceiling space of the property.

The offender threatened the employee with a weapon and demanded a large amount of cash before fleeing the area on foot.

Missing person located, Taranaki

The woman reported missing in New Plymouth on Tuesday 10 June has been located and is safe.

Found Missing Person

Missing US aviation student, William Henry Johnson, has been located and Police have confirmed they have no concern for his welfare.

24-year-old Johnson was reported missing by his family on 9 June, after not contacting them for several days.

Enquiries by Police have enabled them to make contact and confirm he is now safe and with his family.

Fatal house fire, Waitara

One person has been located deceased following a house fire in Browne Street, Waitara this morning.

Emergency services were alerted to the fire at 7.30am.

The person found deceased is believed to have been the only occupant of the house at the time of the fire.

Enquiries are under way to determine the cause of the fire and at this stage there is no further information available.

Operation Purple - anti-social road user gathering in Levin

Attributable to Inspector Ash Gurney, Manawatū Area Prevention Manager:

Ten people were arrested during a large anti-social road user event in the Levin and Palmerston North areas overnight, which saw five members of the public and two Police officers injured.

Police were out on the streets overnight with plans in place to keep the gathering in check, including air support from the Police Eagle helicopter, however faced physical attacks on the ground from those present.
