Three offenders will appear in court over an aggravated robbery at a Pukekohe jewellery store last Friday.

Counties Manukau Police have been investigating after a group allegedly entered the Michael Hill Jewellers King Street branch at around 5.45pm on 6 June.

Detective Inspector Karen Bright, of Counties Manukau CIB, says a vehicle of interest was identified at a Henderson petrol station at around midnight last night.

“West Auckland police responded quickly to Lincoln Road and with the assistance of the Police Eagle helicopter stopped the vehicle,” she says.

Appeal for witnesses: Whitford serious crash

Counties-Manukau Police are appealing for information from anyone who witnessed a crash involving a car and a truck yesterday morning on Whitford-Maraetai Road.

The crash occurred around 6.45am near the intersection of Whitford-Maraetai and Waikopua Roads.

The female driver of a small maroon hatchback vehicle remains in hospital in a serious condition.

The truck driver sustained minor injuries.

Police have closed a section of Whitford-Maraetai Road near Waikopua Road due to a serious crash in the area around 6.45am.

No alternate route is available and traffic is being turned around.

Police are investigating a collision between a truck and car on Whitford-Maraetai Road.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The Serious Crash Unit has been advised and is conducting a scene examination.

Arrest made over Pakuranga fire

Counties Manukau Police have made an arrest following a fire at the McDonalds restaurant in Pakuranga last month.

Detectives have been investigating the suspicious fire which occurred at the Pakuranga Road branch on 5 May.

Detective Senior Sergeant Dean Batey, of Counties Manukau East CIB, says a 12-year-old young person has been arrested and charged with arson.

“This young person has appeared in the Manukau Youth Court and is currently on court bail conditions,” he says.

“Police appreciate the fire has been of high interest to the local community.

Death following crash on Friday, Port Waikato

A female has died in hospital following a crash in Port Waikato on Friday.

Emergency services were called to Tuakau Bridge-Port Waikato Road about 6:10pm on 30 May to reports of a single vehicle rolling.

Three occupants of the vehicle were taken to hospital – two by ambulance, who were moderately and seriously injured respectively, and another by helicopter who was critically injured.

The critically injured female died in hospital yesterday [Saturday].

The Serious Crash Unit attended, and the circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.

Arrest made following Papatoetoe assault

Police have arrested a man sought in connection with a violent assault in Papatoetoe earlier this month.

This morning, Police released CCTV images as part of an investigation into the incident on May 9 on Sutton Crescent.

“This afternoon, a man presented at the Ōtāhuhu Police Station and has been arrested,” Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Hayward, of Counties Manukau West CIB, says.

“He has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.”

The 25-year-old man will appear in the Manukau District Court tomorrow.
