Short-term goalTo introduce a teacher-led safe walking programme as soon as possible. Prevention activitiesActivities that occurred within a whole school approach included: School ethos and environment The Principal led the connection and collaboration with Police, based on the schools goals. The school reviewed its policies and procedures for child protection and road safety. Staff reviewed safety practices in the school. Community connections Multiple agencies were involved in gathering data and coming up with a plan to solve the problem. Parents were informed of the programme through the school newsletter and encouraged to take part in activities. Police conducted random patrols through the community, looking at safety on or near the roads while students were going to and from school.
